Objectives of the Course
Importance of food grain legumes in agricultural production,general characteristics of food grain legume and give basic information about adaptation, cultivation and breeding.

  1. Be able to learn the bean, chickpea, lentil, broad bean, pea and cowpea growing techniques and breeding
  2. Yemeklik tane baklagil tarımının toprak verimliliğini koruma, arttırma ve ekim nöbeti yönünden önemi konusunda bilgi sahibi olacaktır.
  3. Yemeklik tane baklagillerin morfolojik ve agronomik özelliklerini tanıyacaktır.
  4. Dünyada ve ülkemizdeki üretim, tüketim, ticaret hareketliliğini ve ihracat potansiyellerini bilecektir.
  5. Biyolojik azot fiksasyonu ve Rhizobium aşılaması konularını öğrenir.

Taxonomy, of grain legumes in plant , importance of grain legume in human and animal nutrition, information on the biology of symbiotic nitrogen and nitrogen fixing symbiosis Rhizobium –legume, characteristics, effective factors on inoculation, principal features, morphology (stem, leaves, flower, pod, seed) of the genus (bean, pea, chickpea, lentil, faba bean, cowpea), economic case, geografical allocation of these genus in wold and Turkey, cultivation,yield and quality characters, breeding strategies and breeding methods in legumes.

1.Importance of common bean, chickpea, lentil, pea, faba bean and cowpea which a member of Fabaceae family in human nutrition and health
2.General characteristics of Fabaceae family, it's importance in agriculture, geographical distribution of food legumes, their usage in agriculture and the other field
3.Basics of biological nitrogen fixation, nitrogen fixation mechanism, factors affecting nitrogene fixation, agricultural importance of nitrogen fixation and some applications that promote nitrogen fixation
4.Morphological characteristics of common bean, chickpea, lentil, pea, faba bean and cowpea (root, leaf, flower, pod and seed)
5.The agricultural importance of common bean in Turkey and World, geographical distribution, origin and adaptation
6.Cultivation of common bean, disease and insects control, genetic and breeding of common bean
7.The agricultural importance of chickpea in Turkey and World, geographical distribution, origin and adaptation
8.Cultivation of common chickpea, disease and insects control, genetic and breeding of chickpea
