Objectives of the Course
To introduce the linguistic concepts used in discourse analysis; to make the students analyze written and spoken texts through these concepts; to discuss the sociolinguistic theories and the methods used in discourse analysis; to discuss how these analyses could be made use of in the context of language teaching; to make the students grasp the importance of developing discourse competence of language learners.
