Second Cycle
Objectives of the Course
Giving information about description of epidemiology, disease determinants, ecological terms define host-pathogen associations, types of infection, transmission routes of infectious agents, the most convinient diagnostic tests, some proportions for determining disease instances in populations, control methods of infectious diseases and types of epidemiological studies and sampling methods.
Name of Lecturer(s)
Prof. Dr. Timur GÜLHAN
Learning Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate that a disease is present or not within a population; and establish the level of occurrence of a disease within a population.
  2. Screening, monitoring and confirmatory testing and their selection according to with or without gold standart tests
  3. Choosing best method based on the sensitivity, specificity and the presence of gold standart tests or not
  4. Know disease determinants (ecology, host and microorganisms) and explain how the infection develops
  5. Implement disease control interventions
  6. Know the major features of randomised clinical trials, cohort studies, case-control studies, and cross-sectional studies and which one who maybe choose.
  7. Know the types of infection and transmission roads for taking measures for controling the diseases.
