To learn about current developments in genetics.

  1. Be able to explain human genome structure
  2. Be able to explain mutations and formation mechanisms
  3. List genomic variations and phenotypic effects
  4. Be able to define the methods used in the mapping of a disease-causing gene
  5. Explain epigenetic and gene silencing mechanisms
  6. Be able to define population genetics, calculate gene and genotype frequencies
  7. Be able to explain the genes that play a role in development and at what step of development these genes should be able to identify and identify the anomalies of growth they cause
  8. Explain cancer genetics and mechanisms
  9. Explain the mitochondrial genome and oxidative damage
  10. Be able to explain DNA repair and its mechanisms
  11. Be able to describe molecular genetic diagnostic methods and explain how transgenic animal models are formed
