Vezirköprü Vocational School - Forestry and Forest Products Programme

General Description

History

Department of Forestry, Forestry and Forest Products Program on the department was opened in 2013 and from the academic year 2013-2014 I. and II. started education in the form of education. Forestry and Forest Products Program accepts 100 students each year.

Qualification Awarded

Graduates of this program are employable as Forest Rangers in the Ministry of Forestry and Water Affairs and its General Directorates or as Forestry Technician in the private sector.

ÖSYM is determined by the YÖK in accordance with the relevant legislation

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students must achieve 120 ECTS credits during the four – semester study which includecompulsory and elective courses specified in training plans and must complete a 30-day internship in the summer.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Forestry and Forest Products Program, students will catch up with all kinds of wood and non-wood forest products, training, maintenance, inventory, harvesting and marketing of practice-based learning would see primarily needed on these issues will meet the requirement of professional technical staff.

Access to Further Studies

The students who are successful in the vertical transfer examination(DGS) conducted by ÖSYM after short cycle graduation can become undergraduate students at the department of Forest Engineering and Forest Industry Engineering in the Faculties of Forestry.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The applied survey and valuation form for all lessons is defined in detailed form at “Lesson Education Plan”.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate from the program, students attend all classes by their "success" and WGPA to 'Deliver, must be at least 2.00. Students are also required during the training of the first times [STAJ102] "30" business days of completing the internship internship company test "successful" have to be.

Programme Outcomes

  1. Forestry and Forest Products has a basic knowledge related to the fields.
  2. Ability to understand the basic principles of ecological units in a forest and relations and interactions between these units.
  3. Ability to make the ecosystem-based interventions for the maintenance and improvement of existing forests, the creation of new forest areas.
  4. Knowledge on national and international forestry policies, laws and obligations.
  5. Gain the ability to use information tehnologies, calculation measurement and statistical analysis tools.
  6. Knowledge on how to use the new technologies and methods in forestry science.
  7. Skilled at using of the knowledge and skills to manage staff, to identify, analyze encountered problems and develop solution proposals as a team member taking responsibility in applications related to the field.
  8. Knowledge on the general principles of ethics in forestry profession and sensitivity to environmental issues, occupational health and safety issues.
  9. Ability to apply some scientific techniques for the management, planning, the protection and balanced use of the forest resources in the sustainability approach.
  10. Ability on how to detect new solutions to the local or global-scale problems, and become competitor at the environmental and forestry issues in national and international stage.
  11. Ability on how to use the gained knowledge for the benefit of the national forestry and follow current developments at ecological, economic and social dimension in forestry field with the principle of lifelong learning.
  12. Ability to apply techniques to protect the existence and nature of the forest ecosystem against biotic and abiotic threats.
