Profile of The Programme

The objectives of Associate Degree programme in Plant Protection are; to provide theoretical knowledge and to give practical training to students on agriculturally important diseases and pests, biology and ecology of pathogens and pests, host-pathogen interactions pesticides and their effects in the environment, mechanical, cultural, chemical, biological, biotechnological control and integrated pest management for pathogens and pests; to provide qualified employee needs of the private and public agricultural industry for crop protection.

Graduates may find employment opportunities; Public Institutions; (Provincial/District Directorates of Agriculture, Municipal Departments of Parks, Gardens and Green Fields), Companies of Agricultural Chemicals, Environmental Health Services, Firms of Biotechnical Control Products, Firms of Seeds, Saplings and Seedlings, Pesticide Residue Analysis Laboratories, Firms of Organic Farming, Firms of Biological Control Products

Access to Further Studies

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

1) Evaluation of the course, the instructor responsible for the course according to the nature of at least one of the exams to be determined by the application, laboratories, projects, assignments, field work, student portfolio (portfolio) as one of the methods / can be done using a few. Except for the first and the last three weeks of the semester examinations shall be completed within the remaining time.

Graduation Requirements

Programme Outcomes

  1. To be able to learn about systematics, morphological, biological, ecological and epidemiological information about diseases, pests and weeds that cause the loss of the crop at every stage of production,
  2. To be able to become familiar with agricultural management control methods and their use in control of plant diseases, pests and weeds in cultivated agricultural crops,
  3. To be able to use pesticides safely and effectively and informed about their hazardous non-target effects on the environment and human health.
  4. To be able to learn plant protection products and their practice in organic agriculture,
  5. To be able to have the necessary background and qualifications to work in public and private agriculture sectors, to be able to conduct a study independently / as a team member and to be able to comply with the relevant legislation
  6. To be able to evaluate the information obtained throughout the learning process with cause-effect relations, to be able to collect data and transfer the results to practice, and to predict where, when and why to use the information
  7. To be able to use information and communication technologies together with the required computer software of his / her field
  8. Able to use initiative in identification of problems, decision making and resolving problems in occupational subjects.
