Marketing and Advertising Program, Distance Education Media and Communication Program was opened in 2013-2014 academic year. The program started its educational activities in the fall semester of 2014-2015 academic year.

Students who want to enroll in a division must have completed the examinations and completed the exams determined by the Student Selection and Placement Center within the academic and legal framework of the university. Students who graduate from the communication departments of Communication High Schools can choose Media and Communication distance education associate degree program by taking Ösym examination and taking enough points. Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

In Samsun Vocational School, there are two midterm exams, namely the Fall Semester and the Spring Semester. Passing grade is determined by calculating 20% of the students' midterm exam grades and 80% of the final exam grades. Students must be under 50 of the final and make-up exam grades in order to pass the course. Students' pass grades will be determined by calculating the average of the midterm and final grades according to the Bell Curve system, and if the number of students entering the test is less than 10, the midterm and final averages must be over 60.

Graduation Requirements

Students who have successfully completed all the courses in the program and achieved a weighted GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 will have the right to graduate after completing 30 workday internships.

There is an instructor in the high school that can support the Media and Communication Program. In addition, the academic units in the Faculty of Communication of the University also have teaching staff to meet the need of the program. The program has courses related to journalism, radio, TV, cinema, internet fields and the contents of the courses are prepared to train qualified media workers. Lessons are given in the form of course materials, video lessons and live lessons prepared by the lecturers. The Department of Marketing and Advertising, Distance Learning Media and Communication Program, provides the necessary training for students to be trained as qualified personnel in the field of media and to obtain all theoretical and practical information about this field

Programme Outcomes

  1. Understand the main concepts, processes at media and communication field and all information about media and communication application field.
  2. Learn main functions of media economy and businesses, intra-business units, relations with social and economic environment and other businesses, quality management systems, human resources and customer relations.
  3. Understand historical development at media and communication field, ethical value relations with media, and new developments at social media field.
  4. Gain knowledge about advertising concepts, developments at advertisement field, advertising technics and planning advertisement for media.
  5. Have knowledge about Turkish History and Turkish Revolution History.
  6. Gain the ability to understand and interpret the legal rules related to media and communication and the problems in this area, critically and scientifically evaluate the media and communication products.
  7. Learn concepts and activities such as journalism, basic photography, radio television programming, sponsorship, social responsibility, opinion researches, image management, political communication, propaganda, and lobbying and get comprehension to apply them at an institution.
  8. Evaluate risks and opportunities about personal, professional and/or working area and get responsibility to transform their information and comprehension skills to social/cultural/economic idea with high added value/ approach/technology/ product; develop entrepreneurial competence as an individual or a team member
  9. Critically evaluates advanced knowledge and skills in the field of media and communication.
  10. Share ideas and suggestions for solutions related to the field with experts and non-experts by supporting with quantitative and qualitative data.
  11. Move in accordance with social, scientific, cultural and ethical values at the process of collecting, interpreting, applying data about their field and disclosing the results.
  12. Learn basic information about computer systems and application methods.
  13. Learn basic English concepts and follow developments in their field using a foreign language (English) at least at European Language Portfolio B1 General Level and communicate with colleagues.
  14. Conduct activities related to field in accordance with consciousness of universality of social rights, social justice, quality culture and cultural values and environmental protection, occupation health and safety.
  15. Get comprehension of using right and good mother tongue with written and spoken expressions, having effective communication, using proper diction, making effective and successful presentation.
