General Description

History

Samsun Education Institute and Girl Primary Education School, which started to educate with 141 students on October 22, 1961, was transformed into Ondokuz Mayıs University Education Faculty in July 1982. The Mathematics Education Program for Primary Education at the Faculty of Education was established in 1998 and since 1998 has begun to receive students.

Qualification Awarded

Students who complete the program successfully by completing all the requirements are graduated as 'Mathematics Teacher' with undergraduate degree.

Specific Admission Requirements

Students who have a high school and a balanced school diploma and who have enough points from YGS and LYS exams made by OSYM are considered to the programme.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Students are required to complete formal education and primary and secondary education in order to start undergraduate education.

Students who have successfully completed all 142 credits (240 ECTS credits) in the program and have achieved a weighted GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 will receive a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics Teaching

Profile of The Programme

The training program is designed to contribute to personal and professional development in mathematics and education. First year courses include mainly Turkish, Mathematics, basic computer and training courses to bring students with different levels of knowledge to the same level of knowledge. In the second, third and fourth years, there are compulsory and field elective courses, vocational knowledge elective courses, compulsory elective courses, education, Instructional Technologies and Material Design,
Scientific Research Methods, Special Teaching Methods, Classroom Management, Guidance. At the forth and last year, during the 7th and 8th semesters, students are trained as trainee teachers in different schools within the scope of school experience and teaching practice courses respectively.
The 4 year program determined by YOK (Council of Higher Education) is implemented and the language of education is Turkish.



Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Graduates of this program can be employed as Mathematics Teachers in state and private schools affiliated to MoNE (Ministry of National Education) . In addition, students who want to continue their studies in the master's and doctoral can be academicians.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have successfully completed their undergraduate education can study under graduate programs in their own fields or related areas, provided they have a valid grade from the Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) and have sufficient foreign language knowledge.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Education and Examination Regulations of Ondokuz Mayıs University Article 27 (1):

In the units where the course system is applied in the university, the achievement score of a course is the sum of 40% of the evaluation score in the semester and 60% of the score obtained from the final or make-up examination. The resultant half-figure is raised to the whole number. In order to be successful in a course; it is mandatory to have at least 50 semester / year grade or make-up exam score and at least 60 of success score. The achievement score of distance education students is the sum of 20% of the midterm exam and 80% of the final exam score or the makeup exam.

Facilities

The courses are carried out on a semester basis. In this program, there are 5 associate professors, 6 assistant professors, 1 lecturer and 2 research assistants. In addition to the compulsory subject courses that develop and mature the field knowledge, there are elective courses for students' interest and ability. Theoretical lessons are supported by practice. In addition, internships are offered at secondary schools for pupils to train themselves in the teaching profession. department, amphibious, material classes, drama and computer halls.

Programme Outcomes

  1. Matematikteki temel kavramlarla ilgili yeterli bilgi birikimine sahiptir.
  2. Alanı ile ilgili öğretim programları, çağdaş öğretim yöntem ve teknikleri ile ölçme ve değerlendirme yöntemlerini bilir ve uygular.
  3. Psikolojik ve pedagojik çerçevede, öğrencilerin gelişim, öğrenme özellikleri ve güçlüklerinin bilgisine sahip olur.
  4. İlköğretim ikinci kademedeki öğrencilerin gelişim özelliklerini ve öğrenme biçimlerine uygun etkili planlama, materyal geliştirme ve uygulama yapabilir.
  5. Bilginin doğası, kaynağı, sınırları, doğruluğu, güvenirliliği ve geçerliliği değerlendirme bilgisine sahip olur, bilimsel bilginin üretimi ile ilgili süreçleri bilir, uygular ve paylaşır.
  6. Alanının tarihsel gelişimini ve dayandığı felsefi temelleri bilir, karşılaştırabilir ve yorumlayabilir.
  7. Alanında disiplinler arası ilişkiler kurabilecek düzeyde genel kültür bilgisine sahip olur ve bu ilişkilendirmeyi alanına uyarlayabilir.
  8. Alanı ile ilgili uygulamalarda karşılaşılan ve öngörülemeyen karmaşık problemlere bireysel veya grup olarak çözüm önerileri getirebilir.
  9. Alanı ile ilgili yabancı kaynakları takip edebilecek ve meslektaşları ile iletişim kurabilecek seviyede yabancı dil bilgisine sahip olur.
  10. Matematik öğretiminde Bilgi ve İletişim Teknolojilerini ve öğrencinin gereksinim duyduğu öğrenim materyallerini etkin şekilde kullanabilme becerisine sahiptir.
