General Description

History

Ondokuz Mayıs University, Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Agricultural Structures and Irrigation, was founded in 1984 as the Department of Cultural techniques, and the first graduates in 1996 were the first students in 1992, has served as an agricultural engineer.

Qualification Awarded

The Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Structures and Irrigation is awarded to the graduates who have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum.

Specific Admission Requirements

High school diploma and to be placed through the Undergraduate Placement Exam-LYS (for more information, please visit web site of www.osym.gov.tr) are necessary for approval and registration. Within a quota, the Program accepts foreign students taken the University Entrance Exam for foreign students made by Ondokuz Mayis University.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Equivalence adopted by the Council of Higher Education institutions can be admitted. High School graduates who are successful in vertical transfer exam to receive a bachelor's degree may be admitted to be able to continue their education. These students learn from vocational high school graduates by the department concerned before taking into account the lessons and succeeded in determining the adjustment is made. An examination is being held for the level of foreign language and students may be exempted from these courses in the curriculum if they receive a passing grade.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students must take and pass all courses at minimum 120 credits (240 ECTS) including graduation thesis and internships that are explained by the Education and Exam Regulation of Ondukuz Mayis University. In order to pass a course, the average of mid-term evaluation (40%) and final or make-up exam must be minimum 60 (CC)

For undergraduate education, skills and competences acquired knowledge in the field of agricultural irrigation structures and can contribute effectively to the solution of the existing problems in changing conditions is to train graduates who can develop itself. And objectivity of scientific standards in all its activities continuously supervise a training program that is to be.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Angricultural engineers graduated from our department have a chance to work on state and private companies interested in agricultune , food , environment and especially seed production and process. In the same time they can find many jobs in dsi and rural services.

Access to Further Studies

The graduates holding Bachelor's Degree and satisfactory scores about ALES or GRE, transcript and foreign language are eligible to apply to Master's Degree programmes at national level and/or international level both in the same and in related disciplines.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

For each course assessment and grading is described in Syllabus in details. Grades are assessed through relative assessment system of the Education and Examination Regulation of Ondokuz Mayis University.

Graduation Requirements

Students must take and pass all necessary courses, graduation thesis and internship listed in curriculum totaling 240 ECTS credits and reach a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2,0.

Facilities

Department have Hydraulics and Irrigation Irrigation Laboratory, Water Quality and Salinity Laboratory, Computer Aided Drafting Measurement Laboratory and Remote Sensing and GIS laboratory are available. Except that it will increase the students knowledge and experience in the technical sense introduced in the nearby dams and ponds. Field trials also in common use in Bafra to make the test area of ​​500 000 square meters are also available.

  5. Tarımsal uygulamaların çevre üzerine etkilerine eleştirel gözle bakarak, doğal kaynakların korunmasına yönelik uygulamalara katılır.
  6. Sözlü ve yazılı etkin iletişim kurma becerisini sergiler.
  7. Sanayi ve teknolojik gelişmelerin alanda uygulanması sırasında tarım ve çevre ilişkisini dikkate alır.
  8. Tarımsal Yapılar ve Sulama oluşan sorunları fark ederek, sorunların çözümü için gerekli projeleri yürütür.
  9. Alanıyla ilgili güncel konuları takip edebilecek düzeyde (B1 düzeyinde) en az bir yabancı dili kullanır.
  10. Alanıyla ilgili mevzuata hakim olur.
  11. Tarımsal Yapılar ve Sulama Alanında tesis kurabilir, işletebilir, proje hazırlayabilir ve uygulayabilir.
  12. Mesleki gelişim ve iletişim için bilişim teknolojilerinden etkin bir şekilde yararlanarak mesleki bilgi ve becerilerini sürekli olarak geliştirir.
