General Description

History

Environmental Engineering Department was founded in 1980 as an extension of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. In 1993, it became a part of the Faculty of Engineering. The department was started second education program in 1992 and still continues its education as a first and second education programs.

Students complete 4 years successfullyin the Department of Environmental Engineering, gain the degree of Environmental Engineering.

Specific Admission Requirements

Department of Environmental Engineering of Engineering Faculty, admits students with higher education entrance exam determined by ÖSYM every year. In addition, it has opportunity to internal and external transfer between universities as arequirement of the application.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Students who were received in any formal education previously, in the case of application with transkript showing level of achievement, are exempted from the equivalent courses.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

Students who successfully complete courses in the Department of Environmental Engineering, they reach a sufficient level of knowledge to work as Environmental Engineer.
Student wishing to enroll this department, within the framework of academic and legal regulations of university, must be complete processes and succeed in exams determined by ÖSYM. Student has started studing equivalent education program in domestic or foreign can apply for internal transfer.Student admission before the semester begin, each student’s conditions and degrees take into consideration and evaluate specially. Excange programs approved by university and its limits have been spesified with an agreement, student from abroad can get courses given in English. If the student has proficiency of Turkish language, can enroll in any course in Turkish present course plan.

Profile of The Programme

In the Department of Environmental Engineering, given fundamental laboratory education about basic operation, environmental chemistry, drinking water and waste water treatment, microbiyology, air pollution control with basic engineering courses such as measurement course, computer aided drafting, statictics and probabality, engineering mechanics,strength. Courses related with water and waste water, solid waste, soil pollution problems are given that environmental engineers will face in their working area.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Student graduated from Department of Environmental Engineering can work municipality, provincial bank, state hydraulic works, various public institution such as Ministry of Environmental and Urbanization, industrial plants, environmental technologies and services- producing private organization, voluntary organizations in protecting the environmentas an environmental engineer. Students graduated from this department have the opportunity to continue their academic careers.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates upon successful completion of vtheir B.Sc. program , having acquired a satisfactory achievement in the nationwide ALES exam can go on with M.Sc.and Ph:D. studies upon acceptance by the related graduate school of any university.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

In the Department of Environmental Engineering, 1 midterm exam, 1 final exam and 1 repeat exam are applied in each academic semester. Except for exams, they intern institute or private organization which employ environmental engineer.

Graduation Requirements

Students who complete successfully registered education program’s requirements principles such as course, practice and intern according to regulation and have 2.00 of GANO or higher than 2.00 become entitle to receive degree.

Facilities

The Department of Environment Engineering, physical and laboratory facilities, faculty, and research facilities are equipped with the scientific and technological know-how and practical experience aims to educate Environmental Engineers. Department of Environmental Engineering, projection and presentation facilities are available courses. In addition, the department also has a small library serves students. Students organized technical visits and conferences can follow developments in the field of environmental engineering. They are responsible for professional internships, overseas can do the necessary agreements within.

Programme Outcomes

  1. Applying knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering.
  2. Designing and conduct experiments in the laboratory, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
  3. Designing and make project and analyze and interpretation required data in order to reach desired results.
