General Description

History

Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in 1993. The Depoartment has approximately 500 undergarduate and 50 graduate students. Apart from the non-compulsory English Prep year, the normal duration of the program is 4 years. Students who consider themselves not competent in English language may first decide to follow a one year English Language Prep class. The language of instruction is Turkish. In the Department there are 1 Ppofessor, 1 Associate Professor, 8 Assistant Professors and 7 teaching/research assistants. All of the staff take part in teaching and research activities.

Qualification Awarded

The graduates who have succesfully completed and satisfied the requirements are awarded the Degree of Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Admission to the program is carried out according to the performance displayed in the nationwide selection and placement examinations organised by OSYM.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

the recognition for the time being has only been described in the official document entitled "Yükseköğretim kurumlarında önlisans ve lisans düzeyindeki pogramlar arasındaki geçiş,çift anadal, yan dal ile kurumlararası kredi transferi yapılması esaslarına ilişkin yönetmelik" by HEC. Graduates of high schools are assessed in line with the regulations common to all Turkish universities.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

For graduation iti is required to have acquired a minimum of 60.00 (out of 100.00 max) cumulative grade point average with satisfactory completion of 240 ECTS courses and summer practices.

Profile of The Programme

The Department carries out instruction and research at B.Sc.(Faculty of Engineering), M.Sc.and Ph.D (Graduate School of Sciences)levels.
Within the B.Sc. progran the options are defined under the headings of "Electormechanics and Automation", "Electrical Power Systems","Communication Systems", "Communication Electronics"and "Biomedical Engineering".
The department is organised within the groups of "Circuits and Systems", "Electrınics", "Electromagnetic Fields and application", "Telecommunication", "Control Systems", "Electrical Machines", "Electrical Power Systems" to provide instructional and research activities along with the design, project making and technical consultation activities in the region and in the country in areas of enginering related to telecommunications, industrial automation, medical electronics,electrical power systems abd protection, electromechanics and drives.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates upon successful completion of vtheir B.Sc. program , having acquired a satisfactory achievement in the nationwide ALES exam can go on with M.Sc.and Ph:D. studies upon acceptance by the related graduate school of any university.

Facilities

The stdents make use of the following laboratories: Basic Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Microprocessors and Digital Electronics, Control Systems, Telecommunication Systems, Electrical Machines-Power Electronics-Power Systems, Computer Software Programming and Development facility of the Faculty. Students can enjoy research facilities of the department if required.
The department also owns two workshops : mechanical and electrical, a seminar room with audio visual facilities. Work is in progress for the establishment of printed circuit manufacturing and calibration facilities.
