General Description

History

Industrial Engineering department was established at the Faculty of Engineering in 1992 and began to academic life in the academic year of 2009-2010 with 40 students. First students of the department graduated at the end of 2012-2013 academic year.

Qualification Awarded

Students, who successfully complete the programme, are entitled to bachelor’s degree (Bachelor of Industrial Engineering).

Specific Admission Requirements

The admission of students to the programmes are made according to the Student Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM – University entrance exam) within the framework set by the regulations of Higher Education Council (HEC). After students inform the Student Selection and Placement Centre about what programmes they want to study at, students are placed in the related programmes according to their scores they got from the exam.

Foreign students are admitted to the related programmes with the scores of internationally acceptable exams such as SAT, ACT or with their high school graduation grades (Undergraduate and Graduate Programmes for Foreign Students Admission Guidelines).

The admission of students of General Academic Exchange Protocol are to the related programs are done within the framework of the bilateral agreements (ERASMUS, FARABI, etc.) signed between Ondokuz Mayis University and the partner universities. Guest students may enrol into the courses in this programme, if the related academic unit approves. Sufficient language knowledge is required to monitor the programme.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

The students of Ondokuz Mayis University may be exempt from some courses within the framework of certain regulations. If course content from another institution is appropriate and relevant to the one in Maltepe University, the course content would be approved by the director of the institution / faculty/ college, so that the students may be exempted from this course.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The students have to complete the available courses in the programme (a total of 240 ECTS credits) successfully and get at least 60 points out of 100 to graduate.

Profile of The Programme

Industrial Engineering interests in design, development and installation of integrated systems that satisfy the efficiency. The programme not only answers to operational and organizational expectations, but also educates industrial engineers who have leadership and manipulation skills.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Graduates of Industrial Engineering have a wide perspective, required information and skills to be able to work in many different sectors. They can explore the field that they are especially interested in during their training and develop themselves in that direction. They can find jobs in production and service sectors such as production, finance, banking, healthcare, government, marketing, advertising and so on. The main areas of interest of industrial engineers are operations research, systems analysis and design, system development, productivity management, production planning, quality management, statistical process control, simulation, work and time studies, ergonomics, facility planning, inventory management, workforce planning, investment planning, engineering economics, cost accounting, project management, and optimization.

Programme Outcomes

  1. Theoretical : Engineering graduates with sufficient theoretical and practical background for a successful profession and with application skills of fundamental scientific knowledge in the engineering practice
  2. Practical : Engineering graduates with skills and professional background in describing, formulating, modeling and analyzing the engineering problem, with a consideration for appropriate analytical solutions in all necessary situations
  3. Conceptual : Industrial Engineering graduates can analyze and redesign under realistic constraints by using modern design methods
  4. Cognitive practical : Engineering graduates with the practice of selecting and using appropriate techniques and tools in engineering applications; ability of usage of information science Technologies in maximum level
  5. Ability of designing and conducting experiments, collecting data, analyzing the results and making conclusions
  6. Working independently and taking responsibility : Ability to work effectively both individually and in multi-disciplinary teams, confidence to take responsibility; ability to make right decisions under pressure
  7. Engineering graduates with motivation to life-long learning and having known significance of continuous education beyond undergraduate studies for science and technology
