  1. Organizmada gerçekleşen metabolik olayları, reaksiyon basamaklarını ve klinik önemini kavrayabilecek düzeyde bilgiye sahip olmalı
  2. İnsan vücudunun bileşiminde yer alan moleküller ve klinik önemlerini bilmeli.
  3. Alanında bir laboratuarı sevk ve idare edebilmeli
  4. Almış olduğu eğitimle alanında bağımsız bir şekilde bilimsel çalışma planlayabilmeli ve uluslar arası bilimsel yayına dönüştürebilmeli
  5. Bilimsel araştırmalara alt yapı sağlayacak yeterli bilgi düzeyine erişmeli
  6. Alanındaki güncel ve ileri düzeydeki bilgileri takip edebilmeli ve özgün çalışmalarda kullanabilmeli.
  7. Alanı ile ilgili çalışmalarda araştırma yöntemlerini kullanabilmede beceriler kazanmış olmalı.
  8. Alanı ile ilgili yeni düşünce ve yöntemler geliştirebilmeli.
  9. Hastalıkların teşhisi ve tedavinin takibinde etkin ve doğru bir şekilde laboratuvarı kullanabilmek için yeterli bilgiye sahip olabilmeli
  10. İnsan sağlığı açısından gerekli laboratuvar analizlerini yapabilme, yorumlayabilmeli ve sebep-sonuç ilişkisini değerlendirebilmeli
