General Description

History

Ondokuz Mayis University School of Medicine was founded in 1975 where department of physiology was founded in 1982. Faculty of Medicine, was carried out by the department of physiology of Hacettepe University until 1982. Specialist Niyazi Tasci was appointed in 1982 as Assistant Associate professor and led as the head of the department until 1986. After 1986 head of the Department of Physiology is helded by Prof. Dr. Cafer Marangoz.
Until 2013, Department of Physiology has been given 7 masters degrees.

Students who graduate successfully are awarded with a degree of Master in Physiology

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

Students who has got courses in another institutions may be exempted with these courses providing the approve of the Board of Directors of the Institute.

Profile of The Programme

Program's purpose is to educate researchers and scientists who has got sufficient scientific theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of physiology, who has got the ability to carry out scientific researchs, to reach a conclusion by interpreting the data obtained, to evaluate non-toxic and side effects of drugs and who can work in physiologic fields, academic or civil service positions.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates With Examples

Graduates can work as an academician in medical faculty of universities and faculties of health sciences.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates who are completed the program succesfully, can apply the doctoral programs in physiology and other multi-disciplinary departments.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

The success of a course in the graduate program courses are determined by achievement grades. Course grade of the student is conducted during the semester midterm exams, practical works, assignments and a final exam. 40% of these mid-term exams or assignments and 60% of the final exam have been considered while calculating this grade. The calculation of these percentages, fractions will be retained, but the success of rational numbers to the nearest whole number in the calculation of scores are concluded. Lesson success grade is 65 for the master's program. For final exam grade for the master's program, students must have at least 65 points.

Facilities

- Image Analysis Laboratory
Stereologic cell counting is performed using the method.
- Epilepsy Laboratory
PowerLab is used to record the elektrocorticogram experimental models of epilepsy
- Reflex and Motor Control Laboratory.

  3. To access, to follow and to explicate the literature and being experienced about these.
  4. Having knowledge about information technologies, technical equipments and devices about physiolgical area.
  5. To develop new strategical approaches and to generate solutions by taking responsibilites about unpredictable and complex situations in physiological applications.
  6. Be aware of new and emerging applications in physiology, reviewing, learning and practice to gain competency.
  7. To carry out works in physiology as a team or by individually.
  8. To appraise, to expound and to practice based on the bachelor's degree qualifications in physiology and to develop and deepen these erudition.
  9. To participate in the activites and to modify the critical skills and knowledge gained during the training of master’s program assessing the need to acquire new knowledges and new sources of information about the area to identify and eliminate the needs of learning.
  10. Being involved in scientific research projects and taking responsibilites and self-confidence by individually or in groups.
  11. To have experience in scientific research by participating in the preparation and implementation processes.
  12. To express the acquired basic knowledge of issues related to physiology, by literaturally, orally and visually in national and international levels.
  13. To apply the methods and studies in physiology laboratories.
  14. To present the results of studies in national and international areas.
  15. Integrate knowledges from different disciplines into physiology, to create new informations, interpret, analyze and synthesize using different research methods and solutions.
  16. To have at least one foreign language level to undertake research.
