General Description

History

Institute of Social Sciences of Ondokuz Mayıs University was founded on 1985 and has been serving in Kurupelit Campus since 2000. Management Master's Program has started accepting students in Spring 2012.

Qualification Awarded

The Master’s Degree in Management is awarded to the graduates who have successfully fulfilled all programme requirements.

Specific Admission Requirements

The applicants who hold a Bachelor's Degree and willing to enroll in the Master's programme may apply to the Directorate of the Graduate School with the documents. The assessment for admission to masters programs is based on academic success in the undergraduate programme (cumulative grade point average (CGPA) ). The results of the evaluation are announced by the Directorate of Graduate School.

Specific Arrangements For Recognition Of Prior Learning (Formal, Non-Formal and Informal)

The rules for recognition of formal prior learning are well defined. A student who is currently enrolled in a Master's Degree programme in the same discipline at another institution and has successfully completed at least one semester, upon submitting all required documents before the deadline, may transfer to the Master's Programme at Ondokuz Mayis University upon the recommendation of the department administration and with the approval of the Administrative Committee of the Graduate School and if his/her GPA is at least 70. Student who qualify above rules should apply to Graduate School of Social Sciences with required documents within the announced dates. The decision taken will also include eligibility for exemption from some course requirements of the graduate program. Recognition of prior non-formal and in-formal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Ondokuz Mayis University is not an exception to this.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

The programme consists of a minimum of 10 courses delivered within the graduate programme of the department and in related fields,and project. The duration of the programme is at least three semesters. However, with the approval of their advisors, students can in subsequent semesters take additional departmental courses with or without credits. For the assessment of a students success in a semester midterms, finals together with reports, homeworks, quizes ansd seminar studies are used. For a student to pass a couse he/she should get at least 68 over 100. Students must register for project work and the Specialization Field course offered by his supervisor every semester following the semester, in which the supervisor is appointed.

Aim of this program is to equip the students with fundamental knowledge of management and raise them as individuals who work successfully in global competition conditions. We aim to raise our student with modern approaches in management field.

Access to Further Studies

Students who are graduated from this program may apply to PHD program if they acquire adequate score from ALES and English Proficiency Exams and they may be accepted if they succeed in interviews.

Examination Regulations, Assessment and Grading

Courses are carried out for one semester and a miderm and a final examination is conducted. 40% of the midterm and 60% of the final are summed in order to define a student's grade.

Facilities

There is a variety of clubs in our department. Student may join these according to their interests. With a variety of conferences in different subjects, student may follow practical applications together with the theoretical knowledge they gain.
