Our department provide postgraduate parasitology education for the students who have master degree from Faculties of Veterinary Medicine, Medicine, and Biology.

Profile of The Programme

Morphology, biology, epidemiology, ecology, prevalence, pathogenesis, immunology, identification (microscoby, serology and moleculer tools), diagnosis, and control methods of protozoa, helminths and arthropoda which are patogens of animals and risk for public health.

The department is located at the Kurupelit campus of Ondokuz Mayis University where Veterinary Faculty and Institute of Health Sciences are located.

Facilities

Sample preparation laboratory

The laboratory is well equipped for necropsy examination and preparation of fecal and blood samles. This laboratory has dry-heat sterilization autoclave, centrifuge, incubator, laboratory refrigerator, freezer, and water disteller.




Microscoby laboratuarı

The laboratory is well equipped for parasitological routine diagnoses and microscopic identification. In this laboratory, there are 4 microscopes one of stereo, which two has them of digital camera systems, and micrometric mesure.

Serology Laboratory

The laboratory is well equipped for serological researche. This laboratory has biological safety cabinet (class I), Western Blot, ELISA reader, gel electrophoresis, dry block heater, water bath, magnetic shaker, vortex mixer, pH meter, precision balance, laboratory refrigerator, and freezer.

Programme Outcomes

  1. Contribute the progression in the parasitology field by producing an innovative idea, skill, design and/or practice or by adapting an already known idea, skill, design, and/or practice to a different field independently
  2. Broaden the borders of the knowledge in the parasitology field by producing or interpreting an original work or publishing at least one scientific paper in the field in national and/or international refereed journals
  3. Demonstrate leadership in contexts requiring innovative and interdisciplinary problem solving
  4. Develop new ideas and methods in the parasitology field by using high level mental processes such as creative and critical thinking, problem solving and decision making
  5. Investigate and improve social connections and their conducting norms and manage the actions to change them when necessary
  6. Defend original views when exchanging ideas in the parasitology field with professionals and communicate effectively by showing competence in the field
  7. Contribute to the transition of the community to an information society and its sustainability process by introducing scientific, technological, social or cultural improvements.
